The Otter Creek Hydrogen-K is an extremely light weight and quiet suppressor made with the PRS shooters and hunters in mind. The unique look comes from external weight reduction, removing all unnecessary material to keep the weight down but still as strong as possible – this results in a suppressor that has 10% more surface area and a lower weight that sheds heat faster and cools down quicker.
On a 20-pound match rifle, an ultra-light hunting rig, or your 5.56 running drills, the Hydrogen series is right at home with a full auto rating so long as the suppressor is kept under 800 degrees. All Hydrogen series suppressors feature industry standard universal 1.375×24 rear threads so you can pick what mounting system best fits your needs.

I bought the Hydrogen K because I wanted a lightweight suppressor that would serve well on 5.56 rifles. Based on Otter Creek Labs’ opinion and my own experience, the Hydrogen K 6.5mm sounds very similar to the Polonium K.
With a Rearden direct thread mount, the total weight comes out to just shy of 8oz and about 9.4oz with an ACC Flange Direct Thread Adapter that has a built in muzzle brake. Coming from a Sandman S with a total system weight of over 20oz, the Hydrogen feels amazing.
I’ve used it on an 11.5″, 12.5″, and 16″ 5.56 barrels and have fired about 600 rounds total. The blast baffle is showing some very light peppering, which is to be expected because it is titanium. I suspect this peppering was exaggerated after running this can on an 11.5″ barrel at a match. I’ve parked this can on a 16″ DMR-ish 5.56 rifle, so the additional wear should be minimal.
It is sparky, so if visible signature reduction is a priority, then I would look at the Polonium K. That said, I don’t think it is anymore flashy than other titanium cans. It’s just a trade off that you must be aware of.
Overall, I like this suppressor a lot and would recommend it to anyone looking for a very lightweight can that performs well on 5.56.
