I received my Mist-22 about a year ago. It has been everything that I had hoped it would be. Until the barrel shroud seized to the baffles (400 rounds) and they came unthreaded from the barrel. I contacted Gemtech and they told me to send it in. I filled out the paperwork and shipped it to them using USPS. I shipped it on July 25th. I received an email from USPS that the address was insufficient and that it would be returned to me. I panicked a lot and called Gemtech they said that it happens all the time with USPS, but that they have it and will email me a RMA number shortly. I was also told in this conversation that it should be fixed in about 4 – 6 weeks.
I gave them a call the middle of August to check on what the repairs were going to be and if there was any cost to me. I was told that they could not tell me what the gunsmiths had decided was the issue and that the repairs would be. Since the customer service personal could not go into the gunsmith area and the gunsmiths update the item when they are done. I also asked if they had a time when it would be done since they had had it for about three weeks at this time. I was informed the turn around time was 6 – 8 weeks and they also close the gunsmith area the last week of July and the first two weeks of August. The 6 – 8 weeks for repairs had started this week since that is when the gunsmiths were back. I proceed to call every couple weeks after that to try and get more information. Each time was told that they could not give me any information because they did not have any to give me.
This continued until November 21st when I received an email the repairs were complete. They just needed a copy of my form 4 to send it back to me. I emailed a copy of my form 4 and waited patiently. By the time the 26th rolled around I had still received an alert that it had shipped. I called again was told the there was a hiccup with the paperwork and that it would be shipped tomorrow, and I should receive to on the 29th day after Thanksgiving. Still no shipped package alerts on December 2nd. I call again and was asked if I had a trust when responded that I do was told that was the issue and that it was back in the gunsmith shop. I was then told that he would walk down there and personally see that it was brought to shipping and it would go out today. The 5th still no shipping alerts a call at 7:12am cst (they open at 8:00am est) the overnight we are sorry we missed your call voicemail is still on. I hung up and called back the call was answered right away. I was told not sure why it had not shipped yet, but it would go out today. At 4:10pm the same day I received a phone call from them informing me that they needed a copy of my form 4. I explained that they had a copy that I emailed to them two weeks ago and who I emailed it back to. She told me that person was out of the office today and that is why she had not seen it. When she looked at it she said that they needed a copy of my trust also to prove that I was on the trust. I emailed a copy of my trust. Still on December 9th still had not shipped. I called again I was informed that it was in the shipping department waiting to go out.
On December 10th I received an alert form Fedex that a pick up was requested for it with a delivery date of December 12th. It would require a signature, so I took the day off work. Thursday morning received an alert that it was out for delivery. At 12:37pm received an alert from Fedex that no one was home at 12:07 when they tried to deliver the package. I was home at that time making lunch my doorbell did not ring, no one knocked on my door and my dog did not bark (he was laying by me the whole time). When I went to check the front door, he had walked up my driveway and put the note on the door and left. I made the calls I need to do to get my package back. He came back and delivered my package and as I am signing he says to me “you must have been home earlier since there are only my footprints in the snow”.
I have it back so that I am happy about it works great. I had a blast with it the rest of the afternoon. But because of this experience I can honestly say that I can not see myself ever buying a Smith & Weston product ever again. This was the worst customer service I have ever had. Yes, I know that last paragraph about Fedex is not indictive of Smith & Weston but it was just icing on the cake.

Aside from the noise from the action and the bullet hitting the target (using 970 FPS ammo) you really don’t hear much. The fit and finish is flawless. With the replacement of the bull barrel, there is no impact on the compactness of the 10/22 takedown. I keep the paperwork in the Magpul stock to make sure it is always with with the firearm.
This is one of my favorite suppressors that I own and I’ll bet you’ll get a lot of enjoyment out of it too. Great for your kids when You are introducing them to the sport. I’ve run several hundred rounds through it and it will heat up a bit over time, but not nearly as much as you would think. It cools down very quickly too.
If you are on the fence, pull the trigger. You won’t regret it.

Thank goodness I had access to an an milling machine, because it didn’t fit. Obviously paint made it thicker but still had to machine off .20 off to even get the barrel to slide into place to lock.

Love this suppressor – a joy to shoot, very quiet, makes me giggle every time I shoot. The only thing that makes me give it 4 rather than 5 stars is the difficulty of disassembly when dirty, but that can be rectified by regular cleaning.

Does an awesome job making a 22 whisper. Very accurate shooter. Only down fall is you have to keep working the threads so they don’t lock and I had the pin back out where the baffles meet the barrel. Overall great product.

My MIST-22 would not extract due to the extraction cut in the barrel not being cut deep enough. I documented the problem and contacted Gemtech who is now owned by Smith & Wesson. They were extremely unhelpful and generally confused. It seems to me that S&W does not want to support this product for a rival manufacturer (Ruger). I ended up filing the channel myself to fix it and avoid the trouble and loss of the silencer during shipping. S&W would not pay for shipping for this production flaw either. Currently the silencer runs great, but if you anticipate any support needs, I would avoid any Gemtech silencer as they are in disarray after the S&W acquisition.

Product works, fantastic. However, new out of box, quality control of manufacturing was poor. If i didnt have access to a nice machine shop to fix it, it would be useless.

I like it! I have it on a 10/22 takedown and it makes a great little plinker. Having two builds of the same gun I’m overall impressed. I have only shot at the indoor range so I will know more when I’m able when I can get out doors. I wish it did come complete with takedown block installed. But so far happy. I will know more when I run it outside and clean it.

I have had the opportunity to put a few rounds downrange with this new suppressed barrel on my 10/22. It does a great job of quieting the little 22 down to a respectable noise level. I have shot bot sub and sonic rounds through it. The subs seem to have an occasional issue with FTF. I don’t think they have quite the oomph to cycle the bolt completely. Will run some more rounds in the future. Overall it was a little pricey for a 22 suppressor IMHO. It does however, fit the bill for what I was wanting out of a can.

I love this can, it is incredibly quiet, and very accurate, considering it’s on a 10/22 takedown with a red dot, I wasn’t expecting stellar accuracy, but I got it. Fun to shoot, relatively easy to clean, fits well in a x22 backpacker stock as well. Now, the bad news, its no longer in production for the takedown. I lucked into finding one at my local shop, if you find one, don’t hesitate!

Very quiet. I almost gave 4 stars because it didn’t come with take-down block (which I think it should) but it’s clearly stated it doesn’t. Just a bummer that they charge premium price for something that can’t immediately go on the rifle. I mean just add it already. All in all, it’s a fantastic upgrade to an already setup. I would recommend getting some sort of rubberized bolt stop pin (many to choose from) to keep your bolt quiet as well after the upgrade as you’ll notice it more now that your setup is suppressed. Cleaning is easy – nice touch. Super light setup overall. It just works.
